Contents:

  1. General information

  2. Theoretical principles of Dialogue among Civilizations

  3. Methodology of Dialogue among Civilizations

  4. Conclusion
    a)       Anthology of Dialogue among Civilizations
    b)       Teleology of Dialogue among Civilizations
    c)       Feasibility of Dialogue among Civilizations

  5. Practical and executive solutions

  1. Study and analysis of civilizational dialogue among Social Science experts and authorities of Iran and the world

Project Manager:

Dr. Mohammad Hariri Akbari

Objectives:

The goal of this project is to conduct in-depth interviews with world intellectuals of Social Science so that there will be an exchange of opinions and outlooks on Dialogue among civilizations among Iranian and world social scientists.  When such information exchange gets on the way, first scholastic circles and then common people will be informed through video tapes, TV programs and books. This project will help promote the mutual understanding of the two sides of dialogue.

  1. High school students' understanding of dialogue among civilizations

      Project Manager:

      Dr. Naser Fakoohi

Objectives:

Dialogue among civilizations is dialogue among cultures, or to be more precise dialogue of cultural identities. The ultimate goal of dialogue among civilizations is to minimize the cultural conflicts and achieve cultural prosperity. The objective of this project is recognition of rational mechanism of the Young with regard to their encounters with different identities, to find out which identity they relate to themselves, and what is their understanding of other identities. This knowledge will provide us with certain plans and strategies to prepare the younger generation of the country for getting involved in the continuous movement of Globalization.

The project was completed in February 2002.

  1. Study and analysis of the university students' understanding of dialogue among civilizations

      Project Manager:

      Dr. Abdolali Lahsayeezadeh

Objectives:

The goal of this project is to measure the students’ familiarity with Dialogue among Civilizations and their opinion regarding the substance and research methods on dialogue from their point of view.  Bearing in mind that students are basic elements of our society today, and are opinionated and influential towards national and international issues, it is of great importance to make a profound and scientific study on their understanding of dialogue among civilizations.
As long as the main objective of this project goes, initially the students’ understanding of  dialogue must be evaluated. Is this the same understanding that the architects of this theory had in mind? If not, then what is their perception of the word? Whatever the understanding, what are their expectations of this dialogue, and what are the fundamental elements in their belief?
Finally this project aims to present practical and feasible solutions to students’ expectations from their own point of view, which will show if the solutions presented by students are the same as ones presented by statesmen or not.

The project was completed in February 2002.

  1. Study and analysis of the issue of dialogue among civilizations in school books

      Project Manager:

      Dr. Homa Zanjanizadeh Ezazi

Theoretical Objectives:

Assessing the amount and quality of school book material dedicated to Dialogue among Civilizations

Functional Objectives:

Recognition of articles to pave the ground for promotion of students’ spirit of Dialogue among Civilizations

            Project Hypotheses

  1. Most civilizations introduced in school books ancient rather than contemporary civilizations

  2. Most of the discussions brought in the books are about foreign unipolar societies

  3. School book materials are more focused on civilizations more like that of Islamic culture

  4. More negative than positive aspects of other cultures, specially non-Islamic ones are emphasized.

  1. Dialogue among civilizations and political development

      Project Manager:

      Dr. Mahmood Ketabi

Objectives:

Finding answers for following questions:

  1. Is the Hegelian theory right when it says the lack of political development in East is related to the dominating autocratic culture of this region?

  2.  Would political development be achieved or facilitated with interaction of internal dialogue (dialogue in a national level), intranational dialogue (dialogue in a certain civilizational level – Islamic civilization) and external dialogue (dialogue in an international level)?

  3.  Would convergence of internal culture -which has been critically under the influence of hegemonic culture- with other cultures and civilizations result in the cultural affluence  and political development?

Basic Question:

Does Iran have an influential presence in different areas of Dialogue with regard to the expansion of political development? Can Dialogue among Civilizations be considered as an incentive for internal political development?

  1. Economic obstacles of dialogue among nations, highlighting the position and role of Iran in the global scene

      Project Manager:

     Dr. Fariborz Raees Dana
