The loss of a petroleum engineering graduate of the University of Benin, Edo State, Jeffrey Omoregie, has driven family members and friends to mourning, after he was crushed to death by an unknown driver on at Uselu-Lagos Expressway.

The deceased’s mother told the Punch Online Newspaper that the woman was going to a branch of the Union Bank to wait for him to make a withdrawal for her from her bank account. The deceased has decided to go to Canada for his master’s degree program and the mother is thinking of giving him money to support his program.

Arriving at Uselu landing, the 26-year-old tried to cross the expressway to get to the bank when an unknown driver hit him. Jeffrey’s mother said he was taken to the hospital where he eventually died, just 16 days before he was due to leave for Canada.

Jeffrey’s friend, Samuel Ebosele, said the suspect was arrested by the police from the BDPA division on Sunday. He alleged that the IPO had tried to complicate the case, and alleged that some policemen were calling the family to solve it.

The state Police PRO, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the case has been referred to the State Administrative Office, Adesua by the Divisional Police Director, for further investigation.
